Punakha Dzong : Also known as The Palace of Great Happiness, Punakha Dzong is located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (male) and Mo Chhu (female) rivers in the Punakha-Wangdue valley. This Dzong is the most picturesque of all Bhutan ancient fortresses and it joins the mainland by an arched wooden bridge that contains many precious relics from the days when successive kings reined the Kingdom from this Punakha valley. The actual meaning of Dzong if Fort. Long before when Bhutan was invaded by Tibet, then these Dzongs were used as fort. But now it is used as the administrative offices and monastic center. During winter Punakha Dzong is turned as monastic capital. All administrative dignitaries and monks stay in Punakha Dzongs for 6 months and run the country from here only. Before Punakha was the capital city of Bhutan. Later the capital was shifted to Thimphu city. But every important royal function like coronation, the naming ceremony of 6th King, coronation of 5th King, Royal wedding all was arranged here. So in that way Punakha Dzong is the most important Dzong in entire Bhutan.


Suspension Bridge : This is one of the most important and most visited attractions in Punakha. In fact this is longest walking Suspension Bridge spanning about 180 meters over male river i.e. Mochu River. The view from the bridge over the crystal clear river with mountains all around is just awesome. On both side the bridge is draped with prayer flags and is a perfect spot for bird watching and photography. Chimi Lhakhang temple is believed to be the temple of fertility, and the Bhutanese hold a strong belief that childless couples are blessed by Lama Drukpa Kuenley if they visit the temple and pray for a child. The road to the temple follows a picturesque rural trail through the paddy field that takes visitors to the temple from the road, and after crossing the paddy field, you will find a tiny stream from where Chimi Lhakhang is just a short climb away. From the beautiful valley, the next destination is the busy Paro town via Chela-La-Pass (3,998m). So, post breakfast let's proceed towards the gateway to mini heaven aka the spectacular Chela – La- Pass, which is barely 30 km away from the quaint Haa Valley, and well known for being the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, that offers a panoramic view of Bhutan’s second-highest sacred peak, Mt. Jomolhari (7,314m) and other snow-clad ranges on a clear day. The journey through the winding roads is very charming as the green valleys, chirping birds, snowy mountains, and the fantastic view on both sides are sure to keep everyone glued, and the breathtaking scenery keeps you going.

After 1hour 30 minutes, enter the picturesque Paro town, located at an elevation of 2,200 m. Paro valley is the most extensive valley in entire Bhutan and is blessed with mesmerizing nature, fertile rice fields, deep valleys, and a crystalline river. National Museum of Bhutan : In 1968, The National Museum of Bhutan was built, which stands inside the ancient Ta-dzong building that showcases Bhutan culture and is stationed right above Rinpung Dzong in Paro. This museum is the house of beautiful specimens from Bhutanese art and culture, with main highlights are the paintings and bronze statues which are placed in extensive galleries, from where you can get to know a lot about Bhutan art and culture.

Rinpung Dzong : Built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, the Dzong houses the monastic body of Paro, the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head) and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district. The approach to the Dzong is through a traditional covered bridge called Nemi Zam.

The Paro town is full of Dzongs (monasteries), where you can join the monks for prayers as they wrap themselves in red robes with priceless smiles or walk down to the bed of Paro Chu and dip your feet in the cold crystalline water. Overnight at hotel in Paro.

DAY 7 : PARO, TAKTSANG MONASTERY HIKING

After 3 hours of some adventurous trek, discover the Tiger Nest monastery, and if you wish, opt for a horse ride from the parking lot to reach the top. We have concluded our memorable Bhutan tour from Delhi in the last week. It was arranged perfectly by naturewings. Mr Sarkar has done all the bookings after consulting us time to time and provided us the booking vouchers collectively. Sabitra was our tour coordinator who was constantly in touch with us on WhatsApp and asking us about the ups and downs of the experiences.
Our Bhutan Tour guide was Lobzang who is a decent and knowledgeable person. He accompanied us throughout the tour. Our driver Bijay was a funny and cooperative guy. On a whole the experience with naturewings was very very good.

I visited Bhutan along with my wife from 9th to 13th Nov'17. The entire package was arranged by NatureWings. I was searching a destination for Honeymoon and after scanning through a lot of available options we zeroed in on Bhutan the 1st country on Happiness index. Then the search began for popular travels conducting tours to Bhutan and to my shock I found that not many popular players conduct tours to Bhutan. We just completed our butan trip arranged by NatureWings. well it was amazing, all the arrangements made by Mr Suman were good all hotel bookings and vechile provided were good. our tour destination for the first two days was changed at the last moment due to Bhutan govt holidays so we visited two days at jaldapara at West Bengal which was also an amazing experience with jungle safari. I would like to especially mention about our driver who was there through out the Bhutan trip Mr. Drupa, he was an excellent driver and an excellent person, very much devoted to his work thanks to nature wings for providing us such a nice driver. Actually my daughter Miss Saloni had searched nature wings through Google but we r happy with it Bhutan is such a wonderful place. Would love to visit eastern Bhutan too.
