DAY 1 : BAGDOGRA AIRPORT / NJP STATION TO GANGTOK [4 HR 15 MIN (122.2 KM)]

The beautiful and awe-inspiring lake remains milky in colour throughout the year. According to a legend, since the lake used to remain frozen most of the year, it was not possible to use its water for drinking purposes. When the Guru Padmasambhava passed by, while returning from Tibet, the local residents are reported to have approached him for providing a source of water.

The Guru obliged, a portion of the lake touched by him does not freeze in extreme winter. Since the water of the lake is considered sacred, visitors carry the 'blessed' water in bottles. DAY 4: LACHUNG TO YUMTHANG VALLEY EXCURSION

After breakfast, start your journey to beautiful Yumthang Valley. Yumthang Valley is located 25km from Lachung at an altitude of 11,800 ft. It is almost 1.30 hrs drives through numerous Mountain Rivers, streams, bridges and roads with full bloom Rhododendron. The valley remains covered under thick blanket of snow in winter and in summer Rhododendron, Primulas welcomes you during your entire journey. You can also visit Zero Point which is 23 away from Yumthang Valley at an altitude of 15,000 ft above sea level. (Note: Zero point travel is extra Cost subject to Permit and Road Condition).

Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary - Spread over 43 sq km through which flows the Yumthang river, it adjoins Lachung and Yumthang. The Sanctuary which is known for its abundance of Rhododendron shrubs and trees is rich in ground flora and other vegetation as well. Return and overnight stay at Hotel in Lachung.

DAY 5: KATAO VALLEY EXCURSION - GANGTOK TRANSFER

After lunch in Lachung, transfer to Gangtok. On the way visit spectacular Katao Valley. Katao is located just 23km away from Lachung and almost 144km from the capital city Gangtok. In winter heavy snowfall makes this valley cover under thick blanket of snow. In summer the valley looks stunning with vibrant Rhododendron, Primula and Poppy flowers. If due to snowfall, Yumthang valley is not accessible, guests can opt for Katao Valley Tour. Stroll around the pine forest and behold the mesmerizing beauty of North Sikkim Tour.

Here one point to remember that Katao Valley is very close to China border, so tight security is obvious in check point. Generally guests are not allowed after some extent in Katao due to security reason. So, travelling some of extreme part of North Sikkim, a special Protected Area Permit (PAP) is required for both Indian citizen and foreign travellers. Even foreign travellers are not allowed to travel Gurudonglar Lake, Zero Point and Katao Valley as these places are very close to China border.

DAY 6: GANGTOK TO TSOMGO LAKE TOUR, BABA MANDIR, NATHULA PASS TOUR

Tsomgo Lake - is located at an altitude of 12,310ft above sea level. The Lake is only 45 kms from Gangtok City. The Lake is almost 1Km long, oval in shape and 15 metres deep. The Lake is considered sacred by the local people. 12 kms further visit the -

New Baba Harvajan Singh Mandir - believed to have wish-fulfilling powers. On Sundays a 'langar' is run at the temple which provides free meals to the visitors.

Nathula Pass - was a major corridor of passage between India and Tibet before it was closed in 1962. Located around 56 kms from Gangtok at an altitude of 14450 ft, the road to Nathula, one of the highest motorable roads passes through the Tsomgo Lake. On a clear day you can even see the road winding down the Chumbi valley.

NOTE: Nathula Pass visit will be on direct payment basis as because it depends on availability of permit from army and weather & road Condition. Overnight at Gangtok.

DAY 7: FULL DAY GANGTOK CITY TOUR

Gonjang Monastery - this Monastery near Tashi View Point was established in the year 1981. The founder is H.E. Tingkye Gonjang Rimpoche. He was recognised as an incarnation of Yolmo Terton Ngakchang Shakya Zangpo, a 15th century Nyingmapa Terton. The monastery follows Jangter tradition of Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Do-drul Chorten - built by the Venerable Trullshi Rimpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibeten Buddhism, in 1945. Inside the stupa, there are complete mandala set of Dorjee phurba (Vajra Kilaya), a set of Kang Gyur relic (Holy Book), complete 'Zung' (mantras) and other religious objects. Around the Chorten, there are 108 Mani Lhakor (Prayer Wheels).

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology - the most prestigious research institute of its kind in the world, NIT is a treasure of vast collection of rare Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts, statues and rare Thankas (colourful tapestries used in Buddhist liturgy). I recently book a trip in October with NatureWings after reading a lot of positive feedback especially their expertise in East Sikkim. Our plan was for 7N/8D covering North and East Sikkim. Through out my journey in North, every day i used to get calls from them inquiring about the travel comfort, stay etc. I was really surprised by that, but the joy did not last much once we started the East Sikkim trip. From handling of Permits,coordinating with driver, calling his friend to pass on all my details via whats app to get the permit on time was a real pain. This happened in-spite me providing all details on whats app and email at least 10 days prior to travel. On top of that when we reached Zuluk, the home stay guy said there was no communication given to them via phone or email about my stay. Luckily for us another family could not make it and we were allotted their room. Otherwise i would have to look for another place. Overall there were a bit of hick ups covering East as there was no coordinator like we had in South. For the price we are paying i would expect a much better service. We just returned from the west Sikkim tour, packaged and arranged by ‘Naturewings’; route Gangtok – Kaluk - Pelling – Ravangla. Can’t wait to share few things here…the driver we got, was an experienced young locale chap, who knows the hills very well. He shared his little tips as a guide beyond just driving. Quality of the hotels were very high class. We got warm and comfortable rooms, along with the hot and fresh foods. Their hospitality touched our mind. The package was beyond our expectations within this price range. Overall, it was a life time experience for me and my family. We will look forward for more tours from ‘Naturewings’ in the future, for sure.

Recently went to West Sikkim - Ravangla, kaluk and Pelling through Naturewings. Thanks to excellent coordination by Sri Indrajeet Kar, the trip turned out to be a memorable one.The car provided was in nice shape and the driver very cooperative and amiable. All hotels/Resorts provided, especially the Mandarin Resort at Kaluk, afforded breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga along with warm hospitality and nice, hygienic food. The tour schedule, hotel vouchers, car details were intimated well in time beforehand and strictly followed. All in all a big thumbs up for Naturewings - Highly recommended.

We just returned from a West Sikkim Tour and the trip was a memorable one. It was our 4 Night 5 Days trip, covering Pelling in 2 Nights and Ravangla in 2 nights. In Pelling, we stayed in Crassula Ovata retreat in the Upper Pelling helipad area. The hotel is a new one with a mesmerizing view of Mount Kanchanjhungha from my bed. The location and ambiance of the hotel are too good, and we enjoyed every bit of the moments we stayed there. Honestly, we were in no mood to go out sightseeing as the hotel gives us the perfect ambiance of peacefulness and tranquillity. In Ravangla also, we got a beautiful hotel, Barfung Retreat. This beautiful resort with a good room and a breathtaking view of snow peaks from our room. In both the hotels, the food was also good, and our driver from Bagdogra to Bagdogra was helpful and jovial. We must thank NatureWings for offering us such a memorable trip and will go through them once again in the North East India tour.

We Traveled to Pelling, Ravangla and Kaluk during this year's puja vacation. Best place to have a great view of the peaks of the Kanchanjangha range of Himalayas. Just get up around 5:00 am in October and could see the golden snow-capped mountain peaks from the rising sun (because of fewer clouds, and the possibility of getting a clear view of snow-clad peaks). Peaceful Pelling is famous for its sightseeing points like Shingshore Bridge, Sky-Walk and Monastery. We stayed in Hotel Sikkim Aurora, close to the Helipad, and on the top of the town. Most of the rooms are mountain facing, can see the peaks from the bed as well as bathrooms. Just relax and enjoy the show. I strongly recommend a visit over this place for a couple of days (minimum). Overall the hotels, cars and foods arrangement made by NatureWings was satisfactory and within budget.

We had traveled through NatureWings with a family from Ahmedabad. It was a well-organized trip. After 5 hours of tedious journey from Bagdogra Airport, we reached the destination. Our joy was getting double throughout the way step by step. We were overwhelmed by its natural beauty. It was some more than I expected. The rooms were booked well in advance and well-maintained hotels. Mr. Indrajit provided good support in guiding us as we were traveling with a 4-year-old kid. We had a wonderful trip to the chilling weather in December. Hipped up with fresh enthusiasm, the trip to Pelling - West Sikkim was filled with thrills and comfort. I was able to explore from classical enrichment of Sikkimese architecture to its wild green side of nature. In case you are traveling to Sikkim, I would always suggest you NATUREWINGS from Kolkata as it holds the best information in and around Sikkim.
