Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk.
Shey Monastery - the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. The Shey Monastery or Gompa and the Shey Palace complex are structures located on a hillock in Shey, 15 kilometres to the south of Leh in Ladakh, northern India on the Leh-Manali road. Shey was the old capital of the upper Ladakh region. When the Dogras of Jammu invaded Ladakh in 1842, the Namgyals abandoned the palace and fled to Stok (they made it their permanent residence) on the opposite side of the Indus River. It is conjectured that the fort found in ruins, not dated, above the present palace at Shey, belonged to this period of invasion. Subsequently, when the political dictates necessitated shifting of the capital to Leh, even then the importance of Shey continued since it was a mandatory requirement of the Namgyal kings to father their heir apparent here.
3 Idiot School - This school is also known as "The Druk White Lotus School" located in Shey, Ladakh, in northern India, and is known locally as the "Druk Padma Karpo School". Karpo means White and Padma means Lotus in the local language Bodhi. The school got its name 3 idiot school after the famous Indian actor Mr. Amir Khan cast his memorable movie 3 idiots here. Post lunch you may visit :
Leh Palace - Leh Palace is a former royal palace overlooking the town of Leh, Ladakh, in the Indian Himalayas. This palace was constructed circa 1600 by Sengge Namgyal. The palace was abandoned when Dogra forces took control of Ladakh in the mid-19th century and forced the royal family to move to Stok Palace. It is nine storeys high, the upper floors accommodated the royal family, while the lower floors held stables and store rooms. Much of the palace is in deteriorated condition, and little survives of its interior decorations. The Palace Museum holds a rich collection of jewellery, ornaments, ceremonial dresses and crowns. Chinese thangka or paintings, which are more than 450 years old, with intricate designs still retain the bright colors derived from crushed and powdered gems and stones. Structures around the palace's base include the prominent Namgyal Stupa, the colourfully muralled Chandazik Gompa and the 1430 Chamba Lhakhang, with medieval mural fragments located between the inner and outer walls. The palace is being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), this palace is open to the public and the roof provides panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding areas.

I recently finished my Leh Ladakh Kargil Package Tour with NatureWings. To be very honest and as per my first experience, NatureWings not just act as a Travel Agent its actually helps the tourists to choose and design the right itinerary based on their preference on Budget, Hotels, Age Group, Activity preference and obviously choice of meals etc. I really liked the way they have planned my trip. It was a smooth trip tough we have covered the maximum possible places. All the arrangements along with the hotels & the drivers were on time and perfect. Permit procedures was also smooth on time. NatureWings Team was in constant touch throughout the trip for any kind of any issues or complain we have and assuring our utmost satisfaction. I will highly recommend NatureWings and definitely will contact for our future travels for sure.
